What are the objectives of the Community-Based Family Conflict Resolution Program?
The Program was developed with the following general objectives in mind:
To resolve family conflict issues relating to separation and/or divorce in the shortest and most efficient time possible using processes which are transparent, accountable and highly reliable. Depending on the matter, cases can often be resolved within weeks with little or no family court intervention, instead of months or years as is currently the case with many family court processes;
To make the process of resolving family conflict affordable and convenient to the parties involved;
To give family members the knowledge to understand the dynamics of conflict and the solutions to conflict;
To enable the family to manage its own affairs in the best interest of the children;
To significantly reduce the involvement of the family courts in family conflict matters;
To significantly reduce the burden on the limited resources of the family court, child protection and law enforcement systems, and
To promote public respect for the family courts and the administration of justice in general
